Steady Progress
Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.
Working on social anxiety has required me to confront how much it has paralyzed and controlled my life. These days, I'm giving myself grace for taking slow and steady steps towards progress.
Being kinder to myself has allowed me to:
- feel proud instead of ashamed that I was able to successfully complete something that "should be easy" and
- check in with myself to measure progress.
It's okay that it isn't easy!
We are packing up to visit my partner's mom for most of next week today. We are out of coffee so I went to the coffee shop and got myself a large iced coffee. I put on my new open earbuds for the walk. I thought too much about my gait so I ended up walking a little faster than a comfortable pace. A man crossed the road towards me and that fully hurled me out of "just be a normal human" flow-state.
All in all the trip probably took less than 10 mins.
